We just got back from vacation.  Rehoboth Beach DE.
Very nice but the weather was very crappy to start.  We went up on May 1 and stayed till today.
I got two (2) tattoos.  Several friends joined us throughout the week and a wonderful time was had by all.  I hope.
Friends help you through things and they may not even know they are doing it.  Thank you for being there and sharing a small time of our journey together.

Early morning irony, served cold.
Today is Presidents Day.  A day that should have been celebrated by the public school system, except.... they had a snow day when we had no snow.  What do you know, this morning, on the make up snow day for the school system, we have snow.  Just a bit, but more than they had on their snow day.  I bet Kerry will have something to say about it.

*How to get a bonus in business:  Work for a company that needs a federal bailout.  How can a company that is begging the American People for money because they need funding to survive, pay anyone a bonus?  Wouldn't a bonus be expected if the company did well or was prospering and not when they are begging for funding?  Maybe the reason the company is in such dire straights is because of the "bonuses" given when they weren't earned.  Just because you lasted another year in the company doesn't make it a requirement to give you a bonus.  If that is the case call it what it is, an automatic cost of living adjustment.

*My company was before congress recently asking for removal of the requirement for a 6 day delivery cycle.  Within 5 hours of Postmaster General Potter's request the wagons began to circle.  There was a proposal to keep the 6 day delivery cycle but privatize the post office.  What a disaster that would be.  In my humble, unsolicited opinion, the union contracts need to be re-negotiated and people need to be let go.  Companies are letting employees go all around the country just to survive.  The post office has to basically have an act of congress to let someone go.  One union has stated that they will fight any layoff situations even though there are no jobs.  We basically pay people to sit and play cards most of the day (not joking here).

There are a certain number of jobs in a facility and we have what is called excessing for extra employees.  These extra employees are still paid and don't really have a job.  Last week, within 500 miles of Virginia Beach, 1100+ employees were excessed because of declining mail volume and work available.  All areas are in the process of excessing employees.  The only problem is all areas are in the process of excessing employees.  Where are the extra people going to go?  Every area is losing jobs but the employees still get paid, for doing nothing.  I think the unions serve a purpose, certainly, but there needs to be a line drawn because all of us will be out of a job if they privatize the postal service.  The new "owners" won't pay us what we make and I won't do what I do for 30K a year.  It's gonna get bad.

*I certainly hope that no federal, state or local money is being spent on a woman who, by her own choice, has 14 kids and no husband and lives with her mom.  I saw one news article that said humans were not designed for litters.  They also can't afford them.  Who is going to pay for these kids?  The federal government, you and I.  I told Pete that if we have to keep paying for the extra kids then I want one.  A girl so I can dress her up in all the frilly dresses and tiaras.  I need something for my investment.

*I ask people at work, to get them to shut up, why is there braille on the drive up ATM?

We saw the new Underworld movie, during the matinee prices thankfully.  I guess you could say it was predictable since it was a pre-story.  I must admit I slept through the first part of the movie, it started off kind of slow.  After my nap we went to the new Mexican restaurant in Greenbriar mall parking lot, Abuelas.  It was rich looking and had some awesome decor but the food was just ok.  There was no sign of any Mexican staff members but I guess that really isn't an indication of quality food.  Prices were a bit high and the food was "yuppy spicy".  So spicy as not to taste good, just burn.  Properly spicing a meal is important and, like Chilis and some other places, just making it HOT doesn't mean its good, its just made to attract the yuppy spicers.

The weekend is here.  I have so much I want to get done because I haven't had much time this past week.  We are chaning the carrier routes at work and I am very busy trying to get all the information correct.  It's a challenge.  The people in Richmond tell me that my unit has the largest changes but I am almost finished mine.  We go live on the 21st so everything has to be perfect.  The mail stops for no one.

Didn't have school this past week because of the holiday.  I did get a chance to watch the inauguration of the 44th president.  It was a great experience to see history made like that.  Change doesn't just happen so we need to get out an do something to start it off.

Only a few weeks left until I join the ranks of the four decade olds.  I really never thought much about the whole age thing but I think its time to take it seriously.  I don't want the world to "end", I want life to begin.  I have learned some pretty hard lessons over the past few 10's of years and I want to use that to push myself.

My first thought of it came with the arrival of the DMV notice that it's time to renew my license.  They only do it on your 5 and 0 birthday and I couldn't convince Pete that is was 35 and not 40.  I have to go take care of that bit of business sometime within the next few months.  Wouldn't want it to expire because then I have to prove I live here, am a legal citizen, AND take the test again.

Anyway, until I think about it again.....
